Dick Powers, Founder and Director of Powers Human Development, is the director of all training and programming within the Dick Powers Volleyball organization. Powers has over 30 years of successful experience in educating and coaching elementary, middle school, high school, and college athletes. As a member of the men’s team at Ball State University, Powers developed a knowledge and a passion for the game of volleyball that shows in every athlete and coach who has trained with him.
Dick Powers distinguishes himself with his emphasis on the mechanics of playing the game – proper footwork, body movement, and productive and observable skills are particularly stressed at all levels of training.
Aside from training and developing athletes, Dick Powers offers his time and knowledge of the game to be a mentor for area volleyball coaches. An important goal of Dick Powers Volleyball is to recruit and train coaches, giving them the tools and knowledge that will ultimately improve their middle school and high school programs. With the importance of strong coaching becoming greater every year, Powers encourages all coaches to observe, participate, and learn more about positive and productive people-management.
Throughout his years, Powers has trained over 26,000 athletes, with more than 275 of them going on to earn scholarships to play volleyball at the collegiate level.
